Why Storytelling Is Now the Most Important Part of Dance

If there’s one thing that’s changed the most in dance over the last few years, it’s the importance of storytelling.

On shows like Britain’s Got Talent, you can instantly see the difference between a routine that’s technically good and one that actually moves people.

The ones that stick are always the ones with a clear idea behind them.

From our experience, storytelling doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to be clear. What’s the audience meant to feel? What’s the journey? Why should they care?

That’s something we’ve always focused on. Even in our earliest routines, it was never just about the moves—it was about the concept driving them.

And now, that approach is essential.

With so much content out there, audiences need something to connect to quickly. Story gives them that. It creates meaning, and meaning creates memorability.

That’s what separates a good performance from a great one.
